The Amazon fulfilment centre in Daventry has donated £2,000 to children’s charity, Barnardo’s, so that it can continue its life-changing local work.

The Amazon fulfilment centre in Daventry has donated £1,000 cash and a delivery of Amazon Echo devices worth £1,000.

The donation will support the Barnardo’s Nuneaton Children and Family Centres, managed on behalf of Warwickshire County Council, which strive to improve the outcomes and life chances of children by offering effective preventative and early intervention services.

The donation is part of a longstanding relationship between Amazon and Barnardo’s. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Amazon donated £10,000 to Barnardo’s to help the charity during the early stages of lockdown.

In late 2019, Amazon donated £30,000 to Barnardo’s and hosted STEM Christmas parties for children supported by the charity in dozens of Amazon buildings across the UK.

Site Leader at Amazon Daventry, Gareth Davies, said: “The team at Amazon is passionate about supporting the young people in our community and we jumped at the chance to make this donation. The work they do is needed now more than ever and they have our full support as they continue to have a positive impact on children and young people across Warwickshire.”

Sue Berry, Barnardo’s Regional Assistant Director for Warwickshire, added: “The impact of COVID-19 continues to be deeply felt by children, young people and families so it’s fantastic to get this support once again from the Amazon team. The financial and product donations are hugely appreciated by our teams and will enable us to continue offering services to the young people who need us most.”

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering 1.4 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
