Restored steam train stopping at Northampton this weekend

Steam enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend as a freshly restored train and engine makes its way north, stopping at a number of local stations including Northampton and Rugby

After a three-year restoration by Steam Dreams Rail Co. the train, pulled by the B1 steam locomotive MAYFLOWER, will be making its way to Kidderminster and Worcester on Saturday. The Mayflower has some relation to Flying Scotsman with its design pedigree and has two cylinders, six driving wheels, a firebox grate area of 30 square feet and can operate at 75mph. However, speeds as it travels northwards are anticipated to be much slower and it’s hoped that as many people as possible will enjoy the sight of this beautifully restored machine.

Full details of the journey can be found here.
