3 Becomes 1
Over the past week or two, you’ve probably noticed that there has been more than one Radio Name and Logo appearing on your social media.
This is because the town radio station that you’ve been following (whether that be Daventry, Rugby or Towcester) has now merged into one station, Rugby And Daventry RADio.
Initially the decision to merge was held off as a ‘last resort’ as we looked for options for our projects to survive the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, with the majority of our sponsors being forced to close through government guidelines and taking payment holidays, it was evident all three projects couldn’t continue, hence the decision to merge was made.
The result of this is actually something quite fantastic for a bunch of volunteers: Quality Live and Local content daily.
At the time of writing we have 30 volunteers and 38 unique shows, all recorded, produced or ran live from the three towns.
We have fantastic daytime shows that offer a great mix of music and chat with local presenters and very few adverts.
Of an evening, we have an amazing array of genre-specific shows. Everything from Local chat shows to Urban Beats, to Jazz and Country and Western to Celtic, through to House and Decade orientated shows (and everything in between!).
With our volunteers spread across the three towns, we are convinced that we will still be able to offer hyper-local news and interactions and have included separate landing pages on our website so the news for your local town is delivered to you.
We are immensely proud of what we have created as a team of volunteers and we are lucky to have an amazing listenership.
Our plans for the future are to continue to narrow cast through the COVID-19 pandemic then once the situation begins to return to ‘normal’ we will restart fundraising for FM and DAB licensing.
Thank you for your support so far!
